cPanel is the most popular hosting management interface and as such is very well-known to all hackers and cybercriminals. The default configuration provides and easy-to-use hosting environment, but one that is also easy to hack. As part of all WP-Guardian service packages we will harden your cPanel configuration so that it is considerably more secure than the default and this will immediately decrease your risk of having your cPanel account hacked by at least 90%
Service hardening comes at the expense of ease-of-use. A very secure hosting system requires significantly more effort and care to operate and use than a default installation. Recognizing this aspect and allowing for the need for and acceptance of different levels of risk, clickonIT has devised three levels of cPanel hardening. We do not publish the steps that we take to harden your system. Hardening cpanel is a professional task requiring expertise and skill that is our srvice offer. Furthermore secrecy is part of the security mix and to broadcast how we secure your services makes breaking that security much easier for hackers.
Level 1 - Much more secure than the default configuration. Transparent to most users and very unlikely to raise any useability problems for you, your web developer or your visitors.
Level 2 - Medium level security. You will notice that security is much tighter and requires a little more effort from you to manage. Visitors legitimately using your website will not notice any major differences. They may receive warnings is using old software, but general use will not be affected.
Level 3 - High level security. If you use cpanel much you will notice that security is much tighter and requires a more effort from you to manage. Only essential services will be accessible. Service constraints will be considerably tighter. Visitors legitimately using your website will not notice any major differences.
